Tried on tap at the brewery 16/08/11.
Pours a dark cola colour with brown shining through at the edge. Head is off-white, fairly thick but dissipates to a thin film. Lace is alright. Pretty good.
Smell is a bit sweet. That classic cocoa-rich chocolate portery nose with a big glacé cherry hit, lots of raspberry, cinnamon and even pawpaw? Could use some more roastiness, it's just a bit too sweet.
Taste is better. Chocolate on the front develops bitter roastiness towards the mid with coffee and star anise and pepper. Nice rise of flavours towards the mid, then mellows out on the back with a touch of licorice, dark chocolate and spearmint. Espresso sourness on the hang which is unfortunate, but forgiveable as it's not too intense. Good palate.
Full enough feel, but not very thick. Decent tingle.
Yeah, a good porter. Does at times verge on stout territory, but sticks to its guns and leaves you satisfied.

Drank on Tap at Colonial Brewery, Margaret River.
A - Pours a nice clear dark Brown colour, with a two fingered head that really holds well.
S - Plenty of sweet cocoa and malt with a little roast and some coffee.
T - Nice malts up front, before a nice micx of coffee and cocoa kick in, a little roasted malt finishes a well balanced brew.
M - Medium to full body with medium carbonation that really does this beer justice.
O - I really like the balance of this beer and the flavours a nice and developed, a decent Porter and recommended.

This is not an in-depth review, as it is from memory and a couple of quick notes I put in my mobile. I think it necessary due to my previous very high rating of this beer and recent, very different experience.
Appearance - 4.0
Black, small beige head.
Smell - 3.5
Chocolate, coffee, slight burnt bitterness.
Taste - 3.5
Similar to the smell, although very dry and flavours are quite subtle.
Mouthfeel - 3.5
Reasonably fine carbonation, not as smooth as it used to be.
Drinkability - 3.0
Overly dry and lacking in the sort of flavour that I look for in a porter.
OVERALL - 3.55
This is a very different beer to the bottle of Colonial Porter that I drank last year (which was so rich and chocolately that it made a great float with vanilla ice cream, yet was so well balanced it could be used as a winter session beer). To be fair, there has been a change in brewer, and I will be doing a re-review in the future once they have had a bit more to iron-out the problems and restore this beer to its former glory.
