My first growler review, and none other, but for Colonials Festbeer.
Pours out a dark honey colour, with vibrant orange and golden gradients when held up to light. The head was small, and dissipitated to no lacing at all.
There are some slight sweet malty aromas, such as honey and caramel, but it seems to fade off into some wood and piney like smells. Hop Resin maybe.
The taste is full of malt character, with lots of sweetness. There are some buscuity characteristics with it, reminding me a lot of some English Pale Ales. There is a mild hop kick to the finish of it.
The mouthfeel is moderate, with very little carbonation. I am not sure how a growler is supposed to be poured, but the way this poured out into my glass, it had very little carbonation. Still very drinkable though, and the flavours are not overpowering, which I guess is what you want in a quaffer for the Oktoberfest! :)
