i was able to try this one on tap over at an event at rattle n hum which btw they seem to throw the best events lately for a person who lives in nj this is the best place to try beers you never would otherwise be able to try

i had two captain larry beers before they were great but this one was way off for me

it poured into my glass pretty nice although the head on the beer was real rocky and uneven and then the beer had some strange floating sediment in it as well

the smell was off i know the gueze beers sometime have a strong sour cherry smell but this one had a shoe leather and rotten egg smell that is not good at all

the taste was bad i could not finish my glass instead of that refreshing quality i got that really nasty almost foul quality i did not find it emjoyable at all

overall it was intersting experiment for capt larry i'm sure but this one was simply not a delicious beer i am glad i got to try the other ones though

I had this beer among a number of sour beers at a sour beer event at Rattle N Hum in Manhattan. It was great to taste so many sour beers side by side and this one really stood out for its syrupy character.

The appearance was of a light gold with a very active had that stuck around for quite a while.

Smell featured characteristics of brett, some dry malt, a little fruit and dark candy.

The flavor and mouthfeel were quite syrupy, which made it a little hard to drink in any kind of quantity but very good overall.

I always try everything from Captain Lawrence and this was another success from one of my favorite brewers. It's not listed on Beer Advocate so it's either brand new or a one off. If you see it you should try it.
