473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Oct 2021 and served barely chilled. Glad to see that Magnotta is keeping the GRB brand alive.
Pours a dark cola brown colour - not quite opaque, as white light shines through with a crimson red hue, at the same time revealing its effervescence. A full inch of fluffy, foamy, light beige-coloured head is seated atop, lasting for the better part of five minutes as it wilts down to a creamy quarter-inch collar encircling a patchy cap. Nice lacing, too - this is a great-looking dark lager. It smells of roasted grains and malts - I'm getting caramel, light cocoa and coffee, with a touch of black cherry and molasses.
A decent dark lager at best - a little on the sweet side, with caramel and molasses alongside notes of cocoa, roasted grains, bread and subtle suggestions of coffee. Bittersweet finish with more cocoa, dark malts, plum and espresso fading into the aftertaste. Light-medium in body, with relatively low carbonation that gently brushes against the surface of the tongue; feels slick and smooth, but it clings to the palate more than I'd like from a lager. Easy enough to toss back, but not something I'd want to drink en masse.
Final Grade: 3.52, a B grade. Midnight on the Grand is marketed as a schwarzbier, but I found it a little too unbalanced/sweet to fit that profile snugly - it's probably better served being lumped in with other Euro dark lagers, as it is currently. This is one of those beers that's fine to try once, but you wouldn't be missing much by skipping it entirely. I'll drink this again at some point I'm sure, but I wouldn't go out of my way for more.

Dark lagers (schwarzbiers) are my absolute favourite! I've tried them all - Ontario and those imported from Europe - and this is, by far, the best.
Pours a beautiful dark colour. Nose is faint chocolate and a hint of coffee. Not overpowering at all.
Carbonation is lower than German dark lagers but this has been a characteristic of every beer I've had from Magnotta. Mouthfeel is super smooth.
Taste is where this beer scores! A perfect dark lager. Light yet bold.
Not just my favourite dark lager, but quite possibly one of the best beers I've ever had in almost 4 decades of enjoyment.
