Presentation: On tap.

Appearance: Full amber colour ... slightly hazy with a fine Brussels lace.

Smell: Waffs of sweet alcohol and ripe dried fruit over take the nose.

Taste: A smooth chewy & creamy mouth feel holds a rum raisin flavour, hops are far in the background. Fat chewy malt in the middle with more dried fruit character. Hop bitterness and some spicy alcohol become more evident as the brew dries out in the end. English Plum Pudding in a glass?

Notes: A very well made and balanced barley wine. Very rich and very enjoyable. Jeff show his brewing prowess with this prize ale. This sample was about 6 months old.

On Tap in a half pint glass that could be a wine glass.

Sweet figgy aroma, lots of sweet caramel and fruity aromas.

Full bodied with lots of ripe figgy fruit, very malty with toasted, caramel and other dark malt flavours. Hops are mild with earthy flavours. Ample sweetness throughout and far into the finish.

A stellar old ale and a world classic in my eyes.
