On tap at Surly’s Beer Hall. Served in a 16 oz. chalice.
Appearance: Color is a bright yellowish orange. Moderate amount of bubbles and a solid two finger white head with decent retention.
Smell: A crisp, juicy, and bready aroma with good hints of citrus fruit, cracker, and biscuit. Upfront presence of juicy and spicy hops with citrus hints of lemon zest, orange, pineapple, and grapefruit. Also some floral and spicy hop hints. Bready malt hints of cracker, grains, biscuit, and lager yeast. A pretty solid aroma.
Taste: Like the smell hints at, a juicy and bready malt driven taste with a sharp presence of juicy hops. Good hop presence with citrus notes of lemon, pineapple, grapefruit, and orange. Nice spicy and floral hop notes. Pale malt with notes of biscuit, grains, cracker, and lager yeast. A very nice taste.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Crisp, clean, and juicy.
Overall: A very solid take on a hopped up Euro lager. The German hops add a nice juicy kick with moderate bitterness.
