On draft at Merchant's in Madison, WI for the Surly Brewer's Table dinner. Paired with duck confit and morel mushrooms. Pour is a dark purple body, one finger white head, good retention, fair bit of lacing. Smell is rich cranberries, honey, a bit of grainy sweetness, mineral, light earth. Really fruit-forward. Flavour is a nice cranberry presence, sweet honey, grainy sweetness, earth. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, lower carbonated, smooth finish, with a nice cranberry finish. A tasty beer, nicely executed with the cranberry. A very atypical style which is a real treat.
