12oz can, review from notes
This one was shockingly bad, as I rate these beers by style. This is not a milkshake IPA (to echo all the other reviewers here). Thin and weird sour off-flavor.. "What were they thinking?!" It gets points for being different? and maybe even experimental like the Surly of the past. But it tastes like crap compared to ANY milkshake IPA you could pull off the shelves

Canned 12/13/18; drank 3/3/19 @ the Yarchives.
Cloudy orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a big white head; thick, frothy lace.
Pineapple, pine & faint wheat notes in the nose.
Sticky medium mouthfeel.
Pineapple & sharp pine bite flavors up front; mild cream notes on the finish.
More pine-y west coast vibes than I'd prefer from the style, but fruit & cream come through enough to make this drinkable. Not one I'll track down again.

Staycation pours a lightly cloudy bronze color, with not much head. Big sweet tropical aroma. Flavor is full of vanilla, with a good hint of pineapple, and a slight bitter finish. Good body and feel. Overall, a strange milkshake IPA, but flavor, sweet, and a bit more bitter near the end.

Not a milkshake ipa. Clear golden color. White head. Light pineapple and lemon citrus. Not a whole lot else. Maybe a touch of vanilla sweetness. Very light. It’s a good, refreshing beer but a terrible milkshake ipa.

Says “Pineapple Milkshake IPA” on the can...this is false advertising. Translucent amber color. Almost no head. Way over carbonated. Smells yeasty, no hop aroma. No distinguishable hop, pineapple, or vanilla flavor. Slighly bitter and tart, yeasty, sweet from the lactose. Reminds me more of a spoiled Bud Light than an IPA, and is definitely not a “milkshake” IPA.
I’m incredibly disappointed with this beer, and with Surly for canning and selling it as a “milkshake IPA”.

This beer pours a clear gold with a smallish head. The aroma is bright and sweet with pineapple, mango, caramel, with a hint of tangerine. The aroma starts with a big sweet dose of caramel and vanilla, followed by pineapple, mango, tangerine and finishing with moderate bitterness. The mouthfeel is fairly light fizzy. Overall, this is okay, but just really lacking in depth of flavor.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a one pint can on January 20, 2019. Brewed with pineapple, lactose and tropical hops. Juicy milkshake IPA with citrus and vanilla flavors.

Pours a slightly cloudy bright yellow with a modest white head that falls away quickly. Decent lacing. Aroma is pineapple and lemon. Flavor is over ripe pineapple with lactose, no real bitterness. Feel is medium bodied with out enough carbonation. Overall disappointing, drinkable, but not worth the price.
