Barkeep: Make mine a double. This malty, double bock monster is the ideal wintertime brew. Rich with bready sweetness, it also has a complex malt flavor that ends with a dry, warming finish.

Nearly mahogany in color, clear with a tan head. The nose is massive toffe, caramel, and bread aromas. Wow.
The aromas are amplified on the taste, especially the toffee and caramel flavors. This is an outstanding example of the style, IMHO.

At the beer hall, into a snifter, this is advertised as a “monster,” and that seems right...the abv is too high, and the bready malts are a little sweeter than is ideal imho, but still...this is a delicious beer and when the weather outside is below zero, it is a nice option to have. Pours a dark mahogany brown/black, some graininess in the nose, the mouthful is very smooth, and the brown sugary sweetness in the taste only surfaces around the edges...for the most part, just warm sweet bread.
