12 fl oz pull-tab can:
Has a nice balance of roasted barley bitterness and chocolate & black malt sweetness. Not the most complex stout out there, and it could do with more carafa, but unlike many American attempts at the style it's not overhopped and they don't ruin it with unnecessary adjuncts or additives.
Very drinkable.
Texturally, it isn't quite dry/coarse enough to really accentuate its roasted barley core.

Appearance: Pours a nearly completely black color with a soft, light tan head. SRM of 23-24. (3.75)
Aroma: Mild aromas of milk chocolate, buttermilk, and sweet cream. Minimal roast. (3.75)
Flavor: Mild flavors of milk chocolate, buttermilk, sweet cream. Transitions into a mild sweet cream finish. Mild astringency. Minimal roast. Finishes smooth. (3.75)
Feel: Light body, but moderately carbonated. Ultimately finishes smooth. (3.75)
Compared to Guinness Draught 4/27/21: Pours a similar color with a darker head. More chocolate on the aroma. Less sweet cream. A heavier body with more flavors.
Overall: Pretty good for an Irish dry stout. About what you would expect. Has chocolate with some sweet cream and slightly astringent flavors. Bigger bodied, sweeter, and more flavorful than Guinness. Otherwise similar. It's not going to knock you off your feet. At 4.5%, this one should probably be made into a larger size. One beer of this isn't going to do it, but many might. (Final Rating: 3.70)

Can. Khaki head. Dark brown color nearing black.
Cocoa powder and chocolate bars. Light roast. Grassy hops. Light stout.
Not much here. But it’s okay. Fairly too style.

I could session a few of these. Relatively light bodied, yet feels soft. Tastes a bit smokey, with some bittersweet chocolate and sort of a fruity tang on the back side. Pretty good, but doesn’t last long!

12oz can. Stamped on can bottom is 'CANNED ON 12/14/20'.
Dark brown colored body, with mahogany brown back lit highlight. Two fingers of tan colored head settles back to a partial cap. Leaves a few scattered spots of lacing.
Aroma of dark roasted malt, with a bit of char and campfire smoke.
Taste is dark roasted malt, with a bit of char and campfire smoke. Has a touch of sweet cocoa. Ends quite dry.
Thinner than medium mouth feel, but has a bit of a chewy body. Numbs the tongue. Good carbonation, but is toward the quiet side.
Good choice beer to get you started before a warming fire.

From a 12oz can:
Appearance: Black, good firm head.
Smell: Roasty, slight coffee note.
Taste: Nice creamy feel, and a balanced roast/coffee flavor.
Overall: Beer #1 from the latest Surly mix pack. Nicely done standard stout. Easy drinking stout with a nice creamy feel to it. Sometimes you just want an easy beer, this'll do it.
