Patterns upon patterns and layers on top of layers, each building on one another to create a seemingly impossible object. That was our goal with this new juicy IPA. Impossible Objects features zero hops in the kettle, relying instead on Sabro, El Dorado, Citra, and Amarillo dry-hopping to build a new vision of the IPA—massive hop flavor with almost no bitterness. Impossible? We object.

From a 12oz can:
Appearance: Hazy yellow-gold, ok head.
Smell: Citrusy, mild dankness.
Taste: Pretty nice citrus flavor, soft feel, low bitterness.
Overall: One from the Surly hop pack, probably my favorite of the bunch (though not the highest rated). A perfectly serviceable hazy IPA, no hop/acid burn, just a mildly sweet and soft citrusy beer.

I think this is my first IPA that doesn't use hops. All dry-hopping? Okay, I'm in. It's not your normal hazy/juicy IPA- kind of tastes like there are mosaic hops even though there isn't. Pours a hazy peach color - like I ordered a peach lemonade. Not much of a smell. Dry finish - light IBUs. It's decent. Would drink again but wouldn't seek it out.

Appearance: Pours a mostly clear, medium but bright orange color with a soft white head. SRM of 8-9. (3.75)
Aroma: Strong aromas of juicy tropical flavors upfront including berry, tropical pineapple, papaya, mango, guava, and tropical orange citrus. Some resinous berry. Juicy and tropical. (4.00)
Flavor: The flavor has orange and tropical fruit including guava, pineapple, and mango. It has a definite bitterness within the fruit, possibly from some hop burn. Incredibly fruity and juicy, but a definite hop burn bitterness that allows it to finish with a somewhat stale and pine finish. Not completely off-putting though. Some dank berry, tropical fruit, pine, and a mildly bitter toasted biscuit malt underneath. (3.75)
Feel: Medium-bodied. Low to moderate carbonation. Finishes moderate with a lingering bitterness to balance out the juice in the end. (3.50)
Compared to Dogfish Head Hazy O 5/26/21: Similar pour. Stronger and juicy tropical aromas. More tropical fruit, guava, pineapple, papaya, mango, melon. Less orange and cream. Stronger hop burn and bitterness. More abrasive.
Compared to Fairstate Brewing's Chill State IPA 6/27/21: Pours a darker and clearer color. More orange, orange resin, resinous flavors and darker malts. More toasted biscuit malts and smoother with a larger bod.
Compared to Pryes Mass Haze-tereia 7/2/21: Pours a brighter color. More orange citrus, pineapple, and pine. Less chemicals and asian fruit. A more full body and more robust.
Compared to Insight Brewing Hop Drop Double Dry Hopped New England IPA 7/3/21: Pours a darker and clearer color. Milder aromas. More dank tropical fruit. Less sweet orange, pineapple, and juice.
Overall: This is one strongly dry-hopped IPA. Packs the hops with a punch here. Interesting that they didn't use any hops in the kettle and only dry-hopped. Definitely did the trick as this one intensely juicy. Dank and tropical aromas here. I think the flavor falls off a bit from the hop burn. Incredibly juicy fruity, and hoppy. Comes at the expense of some hop burn, but that's okay. Good for an IPA, but for a Surly IPA, maybe only mediocre. (Final Rating: 3.79)

12oz can. Poured out a cloudy, hazy, golden orange color with small, off-white head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of citrus, grapefruit, guava and toasted bread. Sweet tropical fruit taste with piney bitterness and toasted caramel.
