Some people get excited about sneaker drops or digital pictures of apes that are money for some reason. Breweries? They get excited about hops. The Idaho 7® hop, developed by our friends at Jackson Hop Farms, bridges the tropical/citrus divide with striking notes of melon, pineapple, tangerine, and red berries. Hypermodern IPA centers Idaho 7® for a thoroughly unique and drinkable IPA. Believe the hype.

Hyper Modern pours a hazy, bright yellow with not much head. The aroma is sweet and fruity. The flavor has hints of pine and hints of lemon, a nice bitter creamy finish. Good body and feel. Overall, a creamy, mellow IPA.

Pours a golden honey yellow with a finger of fizzy head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring with little lacing. Mildly citrus aroma. Taste follows nose. On the thin side.

12oz can canned 11/01/22 into a pint glass.
L: Pours medium hazed light apricot w a 1/2" smooth eggshell white head, OK retention to edge foam, low carbo, no lacing. Traces of very light sediment.
S: Light citrus, a hint of peach, melon rind, caramelized malts, light cheesy funk.
T: Melon rind, fresh OJ, lemon zest, tangy and resinous, a hint of buttery sweet caramel, a trace of pie crust, peach, light pineapple, a hint of berries, full-flavored, quite resinous, zesty and tart overall, quick moving tastes in the middle. A hint of yeast with warming. Quite pleasant.
F: Lively & lightly juicy medium-bodied soft feel w a long saturating finish and a medium linger. It is slightly drying.
O: Happy to have this in a 12oz serving. It is tangy, lightly sweet and resinous. A wholesome and full-flavored fruity American IPA that drinks quite easily for its ABV. It is very good in its style.

From a 12oz can:

Appearance: Cloudy yellow-orange, ok head.

Smell: Starts danky, stinky socks, then shifts to mostly citrus with a touch of melon.

Taste: Mildly sweet to start, then the mix of citrus and melon starts and stays. Finishes citrusy and semi-bitter, medium bodied.

Overall: An interesting beer, I know I've had Idaho 7 in something quite a while ago, but mostly a new feeling experience here. I like the fruity mix of citrus and melon this gives, not too soft, nice bitterness.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of floral notes, with some fresh cut grass, caramel and citrus. Idaho 7 hops give me and odd grassy/vanilla taste that I just love. Nice caramel backbone.

12oz can from sampler

Hazed-up, as is the trend. Smells like tangerine and citrus fruit. Tastes like Tang drink mix, as was endorsed by American hero John Glenn, when you use double the amount of drink packet innit. Smooth with a slight bite of carbonation

Big eh... DNF

Appearance: Pours a nearly completely opaque (~90% opaque), deep but bright orange color. A small white head. SRM of 9. (4.25)

Aroma: Mild aromas of citrus, grapefruit citrus, a weird citrus variant. Then some pear and gooseberry notes. (

Flavor: Interesting flavors of grapefruit citrus, an Asian citrus variant I cannot put a name on, possibly some pomelo and green honeydew melon. Some tart pear and berry notes on the finish.

Feel: Medium-bodied. Strong carbonation, and a smooth but slightly tart citrus note finishes. (4.00)

Compared to Surly Castle in the Sky IPA 3/7/22: Pours a similar color, milder head. Milder aromas. More citrus variant, grapefruit, citrus flower, and tart berry. Less

Compared to Odell Positive Latitudes 3/25/22: Pours a darker and hazier color. Stronger aromas. More pear, green melon, and elderberry. Less passionfruit, pineapple, grapefruit citrus.

Overall: A very interesting IPA. At first it was mild on the aroma and flavor, but it improved as the beer warmed. I got a lot of citrus, citrus flower, and an Asian citrus variant, maybe Pomelo and honeydew melon, but I'm not sure. Has the tart berry note off the end, but the body is smooth to balance out the tartness and so finishes nicely.
