Winterize is an amber-hued winter lager with toasty notes of biscuit and caramel. From the beauty of the first snowfall to the towering mountain of April parking lot sludge, it's a full-flavored celebration of our home state's longest season.

Unfiltered, fine particles, golden with not much head. Smell is clean grains, hops. Taste has the hops in the background at first, which is surprising for Surly. Tastes like burnt toffee, sweetened rust water

Winterize pours a slightly darker copper color with a smallish, long-lasting head. The aroma is a harsh cereal note. The flavor is strong, with harsh cereals, a nice bitterness, and some nice sweetness to balance everything. Good feel. Overall, a very nice red lager, good strong flavors, a little harsh, but very enjoyable.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of toasted caramel, toffee, and biscuity malt. Sweet caramel malt with biscuity malt and a mild bitterness.
