Appearance: Black, starts with a good head but fizzes like a soda and it disappears, a little strange.
Smell: Dark chocolate with vanilla barrel note, bit of cherry/booze in back.
Taste: Moderately sweet, the coconut comes through in the middle, well balanced with chocolate. Syrupy mouthfeel.
Overall: The last beer from the 2023 Surly bottle project is a winner. Nice rich chocolate and coconut flavor, well balanced, not harsh or boozy. Good stuff!

Final bottle of the Bottle Project Series & there hasn’t been a banger among the first three (& one was a drain pour). Let’s hope this 750Ml bottle holds more promise; split with my wife.
Black. Amateur head (not that I’m denigrating that). The nose is a slug of chocolate & I know chocolate.
Holiday Party – welcome back Surly of yore! Big, bold, sweet malt base holds up a hearty scaffolding of cooling-cocoa-made-with-milk, vanilla, gentle coconut, with the barrel only peeking above the horizon on the finish. One of the booziest beers Surly’s ever made, which isn’t saying much, in the vein of grain alcohol. Drinkable AF for a big beer with a smoking body.
I don’t know what throwback wizardry went into the big bitch, but I’d encourage more of it. Excellent beer.

Bottle 4 in the bottle project 2023 series. One of the better surly beers as of lately, aside from some of the BA darknesses.
Cocao and coconut. Huge coconut. Fudge and chocolate cake batter. Vanilla, oak, bourbon. Very warming, but very smooth. Wow, this is well done. Strong, but good.
