Poured from 750 mL bottle into Darkness snifter.
A: Pours a very thick and murky dark black brown hue with 1 inch dark mocha head with very good retention.
S: Boozy dark chocolate, molasses, charred oak, vanilla, leather, dark roast coffee, and hints of caramel and cream. Potent!
T: Smooth and earthy dark chocolate, vanilla, toasted caramel, molasses, and dark roast coffee with cream.
M: Heavy body. Thick and velvety feel. Layers of dark sweetness hides the high ABV very well. Lingers nicely on the palate.
D: A solid variant, but not my favorite variant. I find bourbon barrel-aging tends to take Darkness back a half-step. While barrel elements are added, it loses the fresh hop component that really adds something special.
