I picked up a party pig full of BA Brown Ale at the brewery this afternoon. I poured a pitcher, and then poured the beer into a pint glass.

Pours a dark red/brown color and is clear. Two fingers of foamy off-white/tan head produces nice lacing on the sides of the glass. There are a few streams of bubbles rising in the glass.

The smell is fairly strong, slightly sweet and malty. There are also some fruity aromas.

The taste is earthy, a little nutty, with roasted grain flavors and sweet malts, and a medium bitter hop finish. The aftertaste is mild and pleasant.

Mouth feel is light, moderately carbonated, and fairly thin for a dark ale, yet the flavor is full-bodied. There is nothing heavy about this dark ale at all.

This is a very drinkable beer. The flavors are mild and very well balance. The ale is refreshing for a dark beer and not heavy or filling. I could drink glass after glass of BA Brown Ale, and not tire of it. This is a dark beer, which is very refreshing when cold, has fuller flavor when slightly warmed, and would be drinkable year round.

Deep mahogany color with fruity, red malt flavor and that slightly punky smell characteristic of a number of RC beers. This beer shares similar properties to the Copper Ale including the deep mahogany color and a comparably fruity red malt flavor. The fragrance is also somewhat nutty though the beer is not very traditional and doesn’t suggest chocolate. Easy drinking though.
