Known as Red Eye Ale. 5.6% ABV.
I like red ales precisely for reasons similar to what this one has to offer. To begin with big, fruity malts. They set up a cherry-strawberry aroma and a flavor that thats so full of strawberry, youd think it was an artificial additive. And the limpid, plum-rosewood color is very sexy. Theres also hints of cherry cola here and a slightly sour taste akin to something Belgian. This latter effect may not be intentional. But even if its good for the wrong reasons, its still good. The finish however, has a modest cardboard taste.

I stopped by the brewery this afternoon and picked up a party pig of the Red Ale, just in time for St. Patty's day. Poured in to a pint glass.
Pours a dark rust red color and is hazy. A small bubbly head forms, but is not real resilient. Minimal lacing.
The smell is sweet and fruity. There are apple and pear aromas.
The taste is also sweet and malty. There us a caramel flavor, and virtually no hop presence.
Mouthfeel is OK. A little flat and watery perhaps.
Another well crafted offering from Rocky Coulee. This is a reasonably light, smooth and tasty brew. Very nice, very drinkable.
