Notes: This lager is made using the aromatic and slightly sour hyuganatsu fruit juice. This low-malt brew neatly blends the fruit aroma with hops. It goes down easy and is especially delicious at mealtime.

L: A pale lemon yellow. Very lively head with beautiful small bubbles and sticky foam. Swirl the glass even lightly and the foam starts fizzing again.
S: Subtle aroma dominated by citrus, with hoppy undertones.
T: Crisp taste reminiscent of a Belgian wheat beer, but with a slightly sour touch. To my liking, a bit too weak; the taste profile could be better developed. Not really sure what the addition of fruit juice contributes to the overal taste.
F: Despite the relatively high carbonation, not particularly harsh. Very much like a good champagne.
O: A nice beer for a summer day.

Miyazaki prefecture (the "sunshine state" of Japan) is known for its Hyuga Natsu type mandarin oranges that are a bit more sour than regular citruses but still fruity. Hideji brewery collaborated with Miyazaki farmers to create this fruit lager using them.
I love hyuga natsu but I'm in trouble rating this beer: should I consider and judge this as a beer or as a fermented fruit drink? It doesn't taste much like a beer, it is rather like a bit thinned up fruit juice with some yeast and perhaps hops added, or as if the juice had just began to ferment and start turning into wine. Nevertheless it is okay, good for whatever it is: smells of real citruses (not hoppy citrus) and its taste is also raw fruit, no real traces of any elements of a beer though.
Would be perfect to drink this in Mitazaki on a hot summer day on the Pacific coast, surfing on big waves and cooling down with this lemonade in the afternoon.
