Solid black color. Medium light carbonation with just below average body.
Aroma wasnt too complex but in a good way, roasted malt, some coffee, and a bitterness that seemed to come from hops and roasted malt
Taste was a mellow blend of roasted malt, fresh roasted coffee beans,a little licorice and a mild amount of alcohol
Overall when in princeton you can't go wrong here for decent food and a decent beer selection

Drinking from the tap in a tulip...
It pours nicely with about an inch of head that settled into a persistent off-white lace. The color is a lovely black. Roast malt comes through nicely on the nose, but, the Triumph house yeast smell is even more prevalent. If that's your bag, then this is the Impy Stout for you.
I think it's poured too cold since I don't get any alcohol warmth on the tongue even though it's clocking in at 8.7%, and, it feels pretty thin.
The malt balance is good, and the carbonation is spot-on, so you get a nice play of malt and bubbles on the tongue. But, the yeast flavors shouldn't be this prevalent, and, as a result, I don't find this to be an attractive beer, I'm unlikely to order it again (even though it's my favorite style).
