Triumph proudly pours unfiltered "real ale" finished and dispensed in the traditional British style, served at cellar temperature (50-55 degrees). Although porter was immensely popular in nineteenth century London, there came a time when the style was nearly forgotten. Ours is a smooth dark session beer that you will always remember.

Cola brown color with a medium body. Carbonation felt a little strong for the style
Aroma was mostly roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate. Not huge or overpowering but still a nice aroma
Taste follows the aroma, again not overpowering but still flavorful

Samples at the Triumph. Pours dark brown hue with a creamy, brown head. Aroma is of coffee and some dark fruit. The body is very thin, watery and very smooth, no carbonation at all. Coffee and light roasted malt fill the mouth. On the whole, this brew tastes like their watered down Oatmeal Stout, which by itself is not a very good brew.

Appearance: Pours dark brown with a small off white head.

Smell: Nice malty mixture of breadiness/chocolate malts/nuttiness and subtle hints of earthy English hops, very nice nose.

Taste: Bready/nutty malts mix with toffee and chocolate up front. The one finishes with a nice earthy hop note that leaves a crisp bitter bite to the end. A real pleasant porter and an easy smooth flavor on cask.

Mouthfeel: Silky smooth and creamy with a medium to heavy body and a clean finish.

Drinkability: I really enjoyed this one, the nicely balanced flavor is really brought out on cask and makes this an all night easy drinker. They've been really producing some nice cask entries as of late so when in doubt, go with the hand pump.

I was able to get this one from a handpump at the Triumph in New Hope, PA. They served it to me in a curved pint pint glass. It poured a dark chestnut brown that had a few burgendy highlights along the edges. It it had a long lasting 1/2 head of white/tan colored foam. The head of foam stuck around till the last drop of beer was gone. It had a slightly sour dry aroma of dry roasted malts, a dab of caramel, coffee, and a pinch of bitter hops. The taste was also slightly sour and dry, but this time it contained dry roasted malts, caramel, dark chocolate, and a hint of citrus hops at the end. It was a light bodied beer that had a slightly sour and dry aftertaste of dry roasted malts and citrus hops. It probably would have saved time by just saying this was a light, dark, sour, and dry beer. It tasted like something went wrong somewhere. Anyway, it's still like any other cask beer served at Triumph, it's worth a shot.

Poured nearly black, topped with a large, slightly offwhite head, that left a very nice, thick lacing around the glass.

Aroma is fairly weak for the style, but consists of roasted grains and a hint of smoke; not much in the hops department. Not much complexity in the aroma, it is straight forward.

Flavor dominated by roasted malts, with notes of coffee, chocolate, and a hint of smoke. Flavor is much richer than the aroma.

Moderate bodied, smooth, but not creamy.

Very drinkable, Triumph states it is a Session Beer, and I completely agree. Could drink this all night. A solid beer, a little bit of a shame the aroma is not more pronounced.

Triumph Porter

Hand pumped in New Hope.

Appearance- dark brown almost black with very little head.
Smell- not much aroma here. Light malt and roasted hops. Slight coffee ground scent mixed in.
Taste- mild coffee and chocolate with a dash of malt and roasted hops.
Mouthfeel- warm yet watery. Served up at room temperature.

Overall- a bland porter. Tasted like they watered down the Oatmeal Stout. Nothing special here.

Served from the handpump. Black in color with a slow building 2" head tan head. Super thick lacing coats the glass as the pint is emptied. The aroma is weak, as a hint of roasted malts are barely detectable. The taste was better than the nose, as roasted malts, weak coffee, and a mild bitterness made up the flavor components.

Mouthfeel was smooth at the start and finish. Medium bodied, which some may feel is too thin, but I think it is just right for a porter. Drinkability is decent.

Deep mahogany colored beer sits beneath a dark cream colored head. Mild roasted malt aroma. Smooth mouthfeel is just short of creamy. Mild roasted and chocolate malt flavor. Soft and comforting on the tongue. Such an easy drinking beer I wish I had more time.

Served as part of a sampler tray at their brewpub in New Hope, Pa. This was an enjoyable brew. From the hand pump, this beer poured a clear, deep and dark mahogany amber color. The aroma is grainy with a slight touch of roasted notes. The taste is very smooth and rich with flavor. Also has a buttery texture along with a touch of spice to it. A very nice porter. Went down extremely easy.
