Clear, brassy-copper in hue with a kiss of amber; nice looking liquid. Massive off-white head, I gently poured it into a glass and I still got three fingers of foam. Head retention was respectable; the bubbles were slow to fade to a thin cap. There was some subsequent lacing, just a couple specks. Overall, this is a good-looking beer!
Clean, empty nose; I get a smattering of earthy hops and some malt sweetness. Faint aromas but I fail to see the direction this beer wants to take. It is suppose to be like Heineken but it smells nothing like it or any Euro Pale Lager. It is boring from start to finish. Not inviting; the nose is awful! How hard is it to make a beer smell like Heineken? Use Saaz hops as a start? Blah.
The palate is a mix of spicy, grainy, fruity/hard water, metallic notes, with a smattering of crackers and caramel. It is kind of flavorful (I mean I can taste something) but overall it is very bland. For some reason the aftertaste is messy sweet/dry/metallic and very watery, empty; it is hard to describe. All the flaws are in the open; maybe some hops could have hid some of them. Maybe brewing with extract really isnt the way to go. Maybe the recipe is just lousy. I dont like the palate at all. This is not a good beer.
Medium-light in body, heavy carbonation, it is comparable to seltzer water. In fact, the mouthfeel is rather watery but harsh. The mouthfeel is disagreeable.
This is yet another dud from the AK. What is the point of this beer? Id rather drink ANY Euro Lager over this. Aksarben is not going to make fans with beers like this. It pains me to say that but it is true. This beer sucks. I cant fathom why I would drink this again. I purchased a bottle at the brewery. I say: skip it.
