Brown-ruby in hue, fairly dark in the middle but thin colored around the edges; it looks more like an Irish Red Ale. Massive beige head, three fingers plus. Great head retention, the bubbles just sat on the liquid. A small cap lasted the entire consumption. There was some spotty subsequent lacing. Overall, the appearance is quite nice!
The nose actually smells like an Irish Stout! A soft but agreeable mix of chocolate, toffee, and hints of coffee create the bouquet. I smell everything I want in the style (no more is really needed). While the potency is moderate at best, I cant help but call the aromas inviting! I am dying to take a sip! Could this be the first worthwhile beer from AK?
No. Sadly, the palate cant match the nose. I dont taste any toffee, I get hints of astringent roast, and metallic hard water finds its way into the palate. Dry, empty, and harsh finish. The flavor profile never really delivers on the promise of the bouquet. This is one of the worst Dry Stouts I have ever had.
Medium-light in body, heavy carbonation, the mouthfeel is the same as every AK beer I tired all have been poor.
Every Dry Stout available in Omaha is better then this offering. I want to support the local brewer but I cant with products this lousy. Needless to say, this beer is not drinkable. I purchased my bottle at the brewery. It is awful skip it.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
