Ebony with a 1" creamy, tan head, which lasts. Heavy lacing.
Aroma is roasty coffee.
Tastes of bitter coffee, roast malt.
Full body, light carbonation. Dry, astringent finish.
This is a very good Stout.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque in the glass with a three finger, fine nitro, dark khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, bakers chocolate and drip coffee. Flavor follows, with dark toasted malt with moderate char, bakers chocolate and fresh coffee and a hint of piney hops in the finish. Medium bodied with moderate, nitro-adjacent, creaminess. Well this one brought me back in time. Shakspeare stout was one of my all time go-to beers decades ago, available everywhere and memorably flavorful. I saw this nitro can and had to give it a try, and glad I did. I remember thinking this stout was like a chocolatey Guinness, but not quite as creamy as a Guinness pour; this can has that great flavor, but with a pleasant creaminess from the nitro can. Glad that the current version still has nice flavor depth for its ABV and a pleasing level of chocolate and coffee notes. I'll be getting this one again. Nice job, Rogue.

Chocolaty Guinness! Very mellow and easy drinking, possibly a little thin, and the nitro aspect was disappointing. The aroma is the best feature, for sure. But if you’re in the mood for a British stout, it checks a lot of the right boxes.

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass
A: Pours cascading brown to nearly black with a creamy tawny brown head that hangs around and leaves some thick lacing.
S: Toasty, char, a hint of smoke, earthy, coffee, a touch of pine, and a hint of burnt sugar.
T: Roasted malt, char, earthy, black coffee, a little raw cacao, piney, a hint of vanilla, and a little burnt sugar.
M: Medium body, mild carbonation, creamy smooth.
O: It's been forever since I've had Shakespeare. Cool to try the nitro version. Really nice straight forward oatmeal stout.

Nitros tend to make beer feel flat. This was no exception. I bought the last 2 6-packs from a liquor store in Oklahoma before they went “rogue” and only made this in 22 oz. bottles. I won’t be buying this again.

Pours a black with a tan thumb sized head that falls oh so slowly leaves some good lace. Didn't really look like nitro beers I've had before.
Aroma is good roasted notes, chocolate and coffee with some light bitterness.
Taste follows the nose good roasted malts, smooth flavor is muted by the nitro as per usual. Lightly dry with medium bitterness for a stout.
Mouthfeel is big medium smooth dry and to effect the mouthfeel also. Didn't really feel like most nitro beers either.
Overall good flavor had to try it as regular Shakespeare is the bomb.

Nitro can poured into a snifter
A- pours jet black in color with a two-finger creamy khaki head that has great retention and leaves some lacing behind
S- bold roasted barley on the nose gives aromas of char and dark chocolate, with undertones of caramel, anise and coffee. A hint of piney hops
T- slightly sweet up front with notes of cocoa and chocolate, followed by a roasted barley note that adds some char and coffee. Mid-palate brings out undertones of piney hops. The finish gives more roast and char, that continues into the linger, along with black licorice
M- medium body with a creamy mouthfeel turns velvety into a silky smooth finish, high drinkability
O- nitro makes this a very drinkable, but full flavored stout

This is a great beer in that they have managed to knock off Guinness except for the head height. I don’t know if maybe it is cheating to have the nitro (and does it compromise the recyclability of the can?), but the 5mm head lasts forever.
