Summer Frenzy is the Wig and Pen's take on a fruity, refreshing summer beer. Brewed to be slightly tart and packed with raspberry flavour, it truly is a refreshing beer perfect for the hot Australian summer. Anyway, here is the review:
This pours a hazy, pink colour with a dense, creamy head. Okay head retention and some lacing.
Raspberry dominates the aroma. A hint of lime comes through (possibly from the kaffir lime leaves used in the Randall). Slightly tart on the nose with a hint of Brett-like barnyard funk.
Solid tartness with good raspberry flavour. A touch of citric. Some soft malts come through on the mid-palate but on the whole it is a straightforward raspberry focussed beer with some crisp, crunchy, refreshing tartness.
Light body with lots of carbonation. A bit filling but acceptable given the beer.
A good drinkable beer with lots of punchy flavour. A crisp, cleansing beer perfect for a hot summer. The tartness may be a bit much if someone wanted to make a session of this.
