Copenhagen 23/3 2019. 33 cl bottle from Mikkeller Web-shop. Drawing of Two pair of legs - one with trousers one bare with High-heeled shoes - sticking up of beer glass. Looks quite alright.

Pours slightly hazy golden yellow with small white head. Settles as thin layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Moderate Lacing.

Aroma is intense and sour with a subtle sweetness for balance. Vinegar, unripe, sour berries, citrus.

Light carbonation. Thin, watery, lightly prickly texture.

Flavor is lightly sweet followed by a strong acerbic sourness. Aftertaste is sour and ends very dry. Lingers for a while in dry majesty.

Nice dry sour experience. Reminds me of a sour Italian white Wine from a friday afternoon reception in the nineties.

 

 

 

Hazy peach color with white head. Aroma is really fruity and hoppy. Hops are dank and give some dark berry aroma. Taste is just slightly tart but mostly hoppy and fruity. Just slightly bitter, very balanced overall. Light but smooth body, really easy to drink. I really like this one, a nice wild-IPA combo.

Poured into tulip.
Pours hazy amber/golden beer with thin fizzy white head, low retention.
Smell - slightly funky, tropical fruits, citrus, somewhat spicy.
Taste - funky, yeasty, citrusy, remarkable hop bitterness in the finish. Dry on palate.
Very light body, good carbonation.
Nice session offer.

 

 

330 ml bottle poured into a mug. A low ABV sour that looks to be patterned after a Belgian pale ale (Orval maybe?), a cloudy honey-like golden amber with a sudsy white head that breaks down quite quickly despite the overall fizzy appearance of the liquid below. Aroma is citrus-forward, orange and lime predominately with the brettanomyces funk present but rather low-key. Palate has more phenolic bite to it than the nose and indeed is rather dry ... Like unsweetened lemon-lime soda water, astringent spice seed (have you heard of nigella? Its a little black seed that tastes a bit like a dry bitter carrot ... Boom! That's what this reminds me of), slightly toasted malts, bitter melon rind, and maybe a hint of old leather or something of that ilk. Sweat? Ew. In any event, this is a fizzy, strikingly thin-bodied concoction with a decent amount of bitterness and yeasty phenols on the front end and a dryish green fruit note to finish. Interesting label art ... Those microorganisms aren't long and eel-like so I think I'm cool (for now ... too soon?). Truth be told this one is growing on me (nudge nudge) as I drink, the sour gummy candy and caramel malt notes developing nicely. The aroma pops as the beer warms and I think the hops and yeast are getting along just fine.

 

 

Another new offering from the master and pours a cloudy golden straw hue with a two finger head and a touch of clingy lacing,Brett really dominates the aroma along with rockmelon and biscuity malts,the mouthfeel is what you want from a nice pale ale light bodied with above moderate carbonation and unusually for mikkeller the taste is pretty much your run of the mill pale ale with Brett and a strong bitter finish and overall a bit of a let down for me was expecting so much more cheers.

 

330ml bottle. Belgian pale ale brewed with Brett, which appears to be infecting the animated figure on the label - creepy.

This beer pours a rather hazy medium gilded amber hue, with three fingers of puffy, tightly foamy, and mildly bubbly off-white head, which leaves some skewed cobwebbed lace around the glass as it evenly subsides.

It smells of sharp, somewhat funky yeast, edgy orange, lemon, and grapefruit citrus pith, further neutered tropical fruit, a tame grainy pale malt, some soft white pepper and coriander spiciness, and faint earthy, floral hops. The taste is quite in line with the nose - adequately funky, musty yeast, gritty, slightly biscuity pale malt, acerbic lemon and lime rind extract, muddled, and now indistinct spice, and waning leafy, floral hops.

The bubbles are a tad peppy and astringent, the body medium-light in weight, and perhaps a bit lacking in the smoothness department, the yeast expertly mucking that up. It finishes on the dry side, the sour yeast, AWOL malt, spice, and tart fruit sealing the deal.

A light, especially in the way of the alcohol, Belgian pale ale, funked up by our good friend Brettanomyces. Simply that, and little more, and well rendered by the same measure; that said, the edginess of this offering would limit me to the one, should that situation ever arise.
