Excellent IPA for me. Ideal look, good smell, soft taste.

330ml bottle, and another gluten-free (less than 20ppm, apparently) IPA from Mikkeller, fast on the heels of their I Wish IPA.

This beer pours a clear, dark orange-brick amber colour, with a fistful of puffy, tightly foamy, and lightly bubbly tan head, which leaves broad swaths of tacky, sudsy lace around the glass as it gently subsides.

It smells of musty, somewhat dank leafy and piney hops, muddled orchard fruit (apples, overripe grapefruit, and white plums, mostly), understated grainy, gritty, and faintly toasty pale malt - like it's maybe missing a wee something, eh? - and further herbal, weedy, and slightly floral and perfumed hops. The taste is semi-sweet bready caramel malt, a twinge of dry toffee, white grapefruit and pithy navel orange, murpy yeast, and more middling weedy, and kind of perfumed floral hops.

The carbonation is obviously quite active, and a veritable man about town, but eventually settles to a dull, overarching hum, the body a sturdy medium weight, and more or less smooth, the hops peeking in, and deciding that they have better things to do. It finishes well off-dry, the caramel and bready pale malt enjoying a testy tête-à-tête with the lingering cadre of piney, citrusy, and herbal hops.

Another equitable and enjoyable gluten-reduced (it has to be) IPA from Mikkeller - probably it would have been better had I not known this tidbit ahead of time, as personal biases tend to seep in that way. Anyways, as I seem to have recently said, if you are actually afflicted with celiac disease, or merely think that consuming gluten will blow up your penis, seek this one out.
