one of my favorite beers of the advent calendar box so far, its amazing. I cant find any write ups on exactly what its supposed to be, but my senses tell me its some kind of wild smoked pilsener type not sure if its lagered, but its pale and smooth. dirty blonde in color and holding a tall white head, it smells a little medical, but also like smoke, getting a campfire started, rauch type and strong. pale pils grain base it seems, maybe some wheat, or even smoked wheat malt as a base too. its medium in body, but expansive in feel, the smoke makes it seem bigger, billowing and expanding all the time. yeast is tough to figure, crackery and bready but also sort of wild. not sure its yeasty tang or smoke leaving an acrid thing late, but it seems to have some funk, even bretty wit vibes to it, all on the back end, confounded even further by the smoke, which doesn't fade at all. a real boldly flavored beer, about as unique as they come. I would love to know a little more about it, but it is truly one of a kind. a stand out from the advent box, no doubt! buy it if you see it.
