Mikkeller "Eixample Pils" 5.6% ABV
on tap @ Mikkeler Bar, Barcelona, ES
,2l stemmed glass for 3€
Appearance: Slightly hazy golden body beneath a short head of creamy bright white. The head retention is very good, and it leaves excellent lacing as it goes.
Aroma: Hoppy but kind of non-descript... Hallertau? Saaz? And a bit yeasty, but as in "yeast", not yeast character. Otherwise very clean.
Flavor: The flavor follows the aroma with non-specific hops.. are they Hallertau? Saaz? Golden malt. Firm bitterness. Clean and dry finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, median carbonation.
Overall: Basic as it should be, but coming from Mikkeler that's a little bit of a let down. I guess they've brewed this for the uninitiated friends that get dragged into their bars by beer aficionados. Or perhaps, simply as a beer to fall back on between more aggressive Mikkeler beers.
