Drank April 10th, 2017. Disappointed - I want more pineapple than just in the aftertaste. There's a fair amount of funk and tartness, but I'd hoped for some element of acidity and pineapple juice. It's not bad, but overpriced and not great.

375 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 2/4/2026. Pours slightly hazy golden amber/light orange color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of tart lemon, lime, pineapple, peach, pear, melon, green apple, white grape, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, oak, leather, musty funk, light vanilla/pepper, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, pineapple, pale malt, and oak barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big tart lemon, lime, pineapple, peach, pear, melon, green apple, white grape, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, oak, leather, musty funk, light vanilla/pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness and light yeast/oak spiciness on the finish. Touch of fruit tang. Lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, pineapple, peach, pear, melon, green apple, white grape, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, oak, leather, musty funk, pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, pineapple, pale malt, and oak barrel flavors; with an awesome malt/tartness balance, and zero puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from tart/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/acidic, and lightly tannic balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol for 7.7%. Overall this is a fantastic fruit lambic! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, pineapple, pale malt, and oak barrel flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the balanced tart/acidic finish. Outstanding level of Brett complexity; with awesome Lacto/malt balance, and oak presence. A highly enjoyable offering.

Lemon yellow color and clear. Minimal head. Light tropical and funky aroma. Slightly sour with just a touch of pineapple. Mild funk. Light body with high carbonation and dry finish. Ok. I was expecting more pineapple, acidity and funk.

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip to a slightly cloudy light orange topped by two fingers of dense white head that slowly fades to a collar around the edge of the glass with some lacing.
S: Smells of pineapple, funk, sourness, and some dry malty notes
T: Taste is a nice sourness up front with some pineapple notes, slight funk as well but no definative flavors jump out. The swallow is more sourness, funk, pineapple and some dry bready malt
M: This beer is on the lighter side of medium in body with nice carbonation that is just under prickly with a drying finish from the acidity.
O: Overall this is an interesting beer. The fruit notes are a nice addition and work well with the base beer. It drinks pretty well and I must admit that I don't hate it. Overall complexity is pretty nice as well so I'd say this is one to try if you don't mind a fruited sour that's a little bit different.

Aroma is medium pine, apple, funk/slight earthiness and a good hint of sweetness. The flavor is pineapple/tropical fruit, strawberry/berry shortcake, malts and a mix of medium sweetness and tart in the finish.

the latest round of spontan beers has landed, and i am real stoked on this one. ive definitely never had a pineapple lambic type before, but have always thought it would be a great fit. surprising here though how well integrated it is, the fruit and the grain and the wildness all go together so naturally, and its so fermented down, that the pineapple here just isnt anywhere near as obvious as some of the other fruits are in other editions. haze and maybe a little more orange than i remember other being, with a solid inch of white head from the tap with great retention. it smells tangy and tropical, maybe not distinctly pineapple, it could almost be from hops, but its attractive and quite puckery too, definitely has the mouth watering. the flavor is great, sunny summery vibe to it. i taste sweet hawaii gold type pineapple, a little tangy too, a nice musty bretty complexion, tons of oak, and then the sourness in the end, which is moderate, quite obviously a newer beer than some of the ones i had from the bottle recently. where some may say it doesnt have enough pineapple, i think its just so well integrated that i almost look at that as favorable. radiant carbonation makes this an easy drinker. clever beer, this series has been a revelation...
