16 oz. can. Hazy orange with a big white head. Smells of citrus, pine, and a combination of acidic yeast components and doughy malt that create a sourdough aroma. Tastes of brett influences throughout. Of the tangy-er varietal, too. Makes the citrus hop flavor tart. A little of the doughy sweetness again, but it's mostly muted. Back end has some earthy brett notes, but only after the hops die down. Dry and medium bodied. Good. It avoids some pitfalls that other brett IPAs step in, which is enough to make it very enjoyable, but still not something I'd jump on if I found it again.

Has the tart, somewhat sour taste of a lambic due to Brett, combined with a nuanced hoppiness flavor.

Poured into a Duvel tulip. Bottom of can says Canned On 12/02/16.
A- Pours a light amber color with a 3/4 inch off-white head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a full sheet of sheer surface foam. Resilient lacing leaves a broken ring behind.
S- Very nice Brett/hop combo creating bright notes of citrus and Juicy Fruit.
T- More bitter than expected. Resinous pine join with the citrus qualities while the Brett creates a nice overlay of funk. The malt is there just enough to provide a sweet contrast to the dryness of the Brett. Bitterness lingers on the palate.
M- Sharp from the hops with medium carbonation and a lightish body.
O- It's been a while since I've had a hoppy Brett beer that provides that great punch of funk and citrus in the nose. Keep 'em comin'.

Kind of an IPA, kinda not, The San Diego Mikkeller team embraces the west coast attitude about hop and decorates it with a host of fermentation science. Choosing a wild yeast strain and all of its peripheral flavor certainly takes away from the hops. ...or does it?
Pale gold and hazy to the eye, the beer's frothy eggshell cap thwarts a bold aromatic display of citrus, tropical fruit, melon and orchard fruit- all of the musty and worn variety. Its taste is supple with faint honey, pastry and modest caramel as the fruit, herb and bitter character awaits.
Bold, bright and beautiful the middle palate casts aside much of the earhten complexities of the nose and ushers in a citrusy taste of tangy orange, pink grapefruit and lime taste along with tropical nuances of papaya, pineapple and mango. Finishing with a lighter cidery tasrtness, a musty, oaken white wine character peaks through.
Medium light and trending dry, the IPA's finish is bitter with citrus peel, fine grassiness and a sharp spruciness perfect for a crisp, clean and refreshing taste and with a hint of earthen complexity. Pale grains and an undertow of burlap with cork trail into a brisk and dusty aftertaste.

Aroma is resiny, dank, with hints of onion and sharp grapefruit, tangerine pith. Touch of barnyard.
Flavor is almost tropical, with notes of mango and peach and a fairly bitter, earthy barnyard finish. More bitter than I prefer.
