a clever and unique beer right here, what i always expect from mikkeller. its a hazy ipa but made interesting by the inclusion of a belgian yeast strain. to me, this smells and tastes like good gin, with a distinctive spruce and pine and citrus and botanical complexion, fresh like wintergreen and almost medicinal and healthful at times throughout it, i thought it even might have some gin botanicals in it, but its just the interaction of the hops and the yeast from what i gather, just a really cool mix of smells and flavors working. its not super thick in the glass but it has uniform cloudiness under a tall white airy layer of head. spruce and orange peel in the nose, some fruitiness from the hops resonating with some fruitiness in the yeast, a belgian wit vibe too with what i assume is wheat in the mash. some spiciness in the yeast too, juniper and green pear and green peppercorn, neat with the tropical hops in this. this is a really different expression of belgian yeast, or belgian ipa/pale, its so well integrated, its not just because, and its robust without having that cotton candy or taffy fermented too hot vibe at all. smooth and fuller bodied, bubbly still though and warming up really well. always a treat to drink new mikkeller beer, the stuff coming out of san diego is fantastic right now!

Poured light hazy honey gold with a large head that left magnificent lacing.
Aroma is sweet tropical and citrus fruit along with that Belgian yeast which blends in very nicely.
Taste is a very nice balance of the fruity hops with the funky Belgian yeast.
Mouthfeel is medium, solid bitterness, dry finish.
Normally I steer away from lighter Belgian ales because of the funky yeast, but this brew really blends it right with the hops. I'm probably going to start trying more Belgian IPAs because of this beer.
