Copenhagen 29/3 2022. 47,3 cl can from Meny, Borups Allé, Frb. F. Metal can with a. red label showing a vampiric gentleman drinking the blood from a tree.

Pours opaque, dark brown with a small off-white head. Settles as a flimsy patch of foam unable of covering much of anything. No lacing.

Aroma is intense with a sweet, sugary odor mingling with a bit of bitter coffee. Brown sugar, syrup, vanilla, and Kahlua. Sugared butt strong coffee.

Light carbonation. Thick, oily, viscous, soft and bit sticky texture. Almost flat.

Flavor is intense with a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong lurking bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a distinct boozy burn. Lingering. Finish is pure liqueur.

Potent potion of Tree Blood.

Pours and looks like motor oil that's been used for a few thousand miles. Darkest brown liquid with the most minimal tan head. The nose is strongly chocolate with an undercurrent of maple. The flavor is complex at first--it kind of unfolds from a prominent maple syrup that segues into coffee and chocolate. The finish has a tannin bite. As the beer warms, complexity fades, and maple syrup and coffee share the stage throughout. Genuinely tasty dessert stout, but had to knock off half a point for booziness that settles in the bottom of the glass.

Poured via pint can into a snifter - heavy oily dark pour with a huge amount of dark foam risen.
Getting aromas of coffee, chocolate, maple, dark fruits, malts, slight alcohol in the back.
Sweet chocolate coffee up front followed by the maple subtly in the backend. Very good!
Feel is thick and oily, sipper, sweet and easy to drink. Not to much carbonation. It feels since there’s not much carbonation the texture definitely stands out more.
Overall this was worth the experience. I didn’t expect to get as much maple as I did and got a surprisingly good amount of coffee which I didn’t expect as much either. Very well made!

Mikkeller Træblod Imperial Stout, 12.1% ABV. Pours engine-oil thick and black, with a slight medium-brown head that left an oily sheen. Nose is coffee, maple syrup, and roast malt. Taste follows, slightly sweet, moderately bitter. Decent mouthfeel, overall outstanding. This is mostly about the coffee and roast malt fighting it out. The maple is apparently there to bear witness.

Poured black, very black and topped with a light brown head that didn’t hang around long. No lacing either, but that’s not really an issue for me.
The aroma was coffee and malts and a wiff of maple syrup.
The taste rather follows; most stouts with those adjuncts are sweet first and coffee later. This one definitely has coffee foremost, char and roasted malts with just a hint of sweetness.
The feel was excellent, very nice sipper and just viscous enough for the style.
OA, I enjoyed it and think that it’s pretty amazing they featured the coffee and it’s bitterness and use the maple syrup in a minor role.

Pours jet black with an inky-oily stillness. Head is half a finger, at most, of off-white foam. Aroma is roasty, toasty, caramely malts with light maple syrup and coffee. It's almost a baby-ish Mornin' Delight, although the maple is better adapted to the nose than MD (not as blunt.) Light barrel comes through the back, and swells to a more substantial heat as the beer warms. Flavor profile is more along the same lines, with roasty, toasty, caramely, and bready malts developing a huge underlying stout. Maple mingles with roasty coffee that has a little acidity and bitterness to it. Together, the balance leans more towards bitter, with that maple adding just enough sweetness to round it out, but not enough to be a perfect yin-yang. It does taste heavy though, with bourbon booze, char, and oak adding heat, bitterness, and smoothing notes respectively. Big time beer. Mouth feel is thick with a still effervescence that carries just a touch of grit to it. Overall, big time boozy stout with quality maple and coffee added. For those seeking out something in the same vein as Mornin' Delight, but want a little more presence, balance, and/or barrel - this is your beer. Hearty, steadfast stout that remains balanced, as opposed to leaning into sweetness.

Served in a 15.5oz Speigalau tulip from a 16oz can. Reviewed mistakenly as the BBA on September 11th, 2021.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a very thin dark khaki head that dissipates to tiny patches with slight lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa, maple syrup, vanilla and fruit esters. Flavor is dark toasted malt, dark chocolate, maple syrup, vanilla and coffee bitterness. Woody chocolate and maple finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A solid, flavorful stout from Mikkeller, as expected. The maple and chocolate flavors are great and well balanced, but the coffee is odd with little bean flavor, but a burst of pure coffee bitterness at the end, which mixes with the oak to create a flavor that is interesting, but more woody, estery and earthy than a pure coffee flavor. Fortunately, the other flavors are fine and even without cup-o-coffee flavor, this is an enjoyable big stout. Great label and a stout I've wanted to try for a long time.
