another brilliant mikkeller wild beer, this one in the bottle. these labels look super sharp, and the smaller bottles are killer, the aesthetic is hot! this is aged 18 months in oak with peaches, and at its base is a golden ale thats both wild and tart, bretty and bacterial, balanced and clean, interesting and different, it would be just wonderful on its own, but with the fruit its one of a kind. the color is radiant yellow, frosted, and frothy, with a nice inch of white head sitting on top in the small stemmed glass the serve it with at the san diego brewery. so sexy. the aroma and flavor showcase a lactic tang, dripping juicy yellow peach, fuzzy tart skin and all, and a mature oaky funk that harbors some musty brett, a white wine layer, and calls up some of the wheat and pils malts this seems so be comprised of. the balance here with all the element is delicate and nuanced and complex, so refined and good. the peaches burst forth from this, ripe as they come and the essence of summer, world class. i love the feel too, its got the perfect acidity to highlight the fruit but not make it too sour to drink, carbonation is very high, and the funk dries it right out, but not at the expense of natural peach in the finish. a sort of fruity white wine beer, easily one of the better mikkeller fruited wild beers i have had, and worth the somewhat steep asking price. i hope these bottles start making their way out to colorado, i hate to imagine missing out on a beer this incredible! so fun to share this with friends!
