i love mikkeller, one of my very favorites, but frankly i am surprised to see this one rated so highly, it looks, smells, feels, and tastes a little sloppy to me, but its never been the hoppy stuff that turns me on most from these guys. reddish in a dim lit bar, short white head clinging to the edges of the wine glass its poured into from the tap, cloudy but not super thick or anything, although its obviously a bit sedimented, the hop profile is so common to me now, citra, simcoe, mosaic, they go together like any great trio, but its hard to glean anything unique from them anymore, and this tastes more like a follower than a leader, which is not at all what i know and expect from mikkeller. that said, the simcoe is high in the mix to me, especially in the finish, and i like its bitter greapefruity intensity over the softer citra and mosaic here, and there is a distinct woody and woodsy character to this, wintery even, dense, the oats and starch and protein from it all add a serious density to the texture that works great with these hops. tastes slightly off fully fresh, but its got a ton of hop flavor still and i drink it down with pleasure. i always expect the world from these beers, so it was odd to have some less than mind blowing beers from mikkeller when we were in the city, but ive heard from others that the nyc brews have not been among their best so far. this is one of my first, and its good but not amazing. it drinks all of 8% abv too, a stiff one. i will revisit this when i get the chance, others here seem to love it...

Appearance: Arrives orange colored and somewhat hazy with a thick head that leaves a curtain of lace

Smell: Melon, pineapple, kiwi and berry tones; a hint of citrus pith

Taste: More dank on the palate than the aroma so the pithy orange citrus tones power the front end with the pineapple, melon and berry favors emerging; low bitterness, through the middle; honey and fruit in the finish

Mouthfeel: Rather creamy, with a medium body and moderate carbonation

Overall: An interesting DIPA that brings a lot of flavor; a bit too sweet for me, in an unusual way, with strong honey tones

Pours a hazy orange with thick, soft foam.

Smell is dank and grassy with notes of pine and citrusy and a hint of cat pee.

Taste is sweet and a bit juicy with notes of melon, mango and dank grassiness. Robust bitterness, well balanced.

Mouthfeel is medium, soft and well carbonated.

Overall, a very good DIPA, balanced and drinkable.

Tall can direct from the brewery at Citi field, Queens, NY.

"Sept. 5, 2018" printed on the bottom of the can.

Hazed NEIPA kinda pour, supports a lasting khaki cap, and leaves ample fine fields, bits and strands of lacing.

Dank hops and fresh fruity notes on the nose.

Full fresh flavor IIPA from Mikkeller NYC. So cool that high quality beer like this is being produced and canned right in Citi Field.

Tropical, dank and over the top delicious...notes of herbal/dank hops, fresh pineapple and lime, some smoky wood notes in the rear...real fine stuff...go get some
