a collaboration ipa with 18th street, it features peach and guava and has has some tapioca in it too, not sure i have seen that in a beer before, i think mango as well, its delicious, but you have to like the style in that its dry hoppy and super fruity, new school to the max, questionable as an ipa really, but pretty darn tasty. not sure i have seen tapioca in a beer before, but here its obviously starchy, like pasta water in appearance and texture, heavy and seemingly full of protein, although i dont know too much about it. not full of flavor really on the grain side, but with a desserty essence and richer feel. peach and tropical fruit in the nose in front of the hops, creamy feeling like a frog eye salad or an old lady jello whip up for a church potluck, with like mandarins and marshmallows and stuff. mango sweetness, guava pulpiness, and some citrusy hops there too, but its a stretch for me to concede this to be an ipa, its a fruit beer, weird but good. i count on mikkeller to surprise and challenge me with each beer, and this one certainly does both of those things. i dont want any more of this than one glass, but its cool to see what tapioca can do in this context. id like to see it in a more basic ipa without the fruit and with more hop oiliness and bitterness, but this is fun, summery, scary drinkable for what it is, and one of a kind...
