Nice Saison here. Was thinking this might be on the tart side given the Brett but this thing is super mellow and has a nice balance between tart and funk. Sweat dough and floral notes throughout with hints of citrus a green grapes. Yeast profile isn’t in your face but present and noticeable. Medium body with that perfect funky tart kick to finish. Semi dry. I thought I would like this one but even so it is impressing me with how balanced and smooth it is.

a gorgeous saison here, brett fermented, and brewed with bread, strawberries, and honey, done in collaboration with almanac. i have loved every single large bottle out of mikkeller san diego so far, i just wish i could get more, and i wish they werent so darn expensive. huge thanks to my brother for sharing this one with me! this is delicate and awesome, barely even tart at all but with a wonderfully subtle yet developed brett character, funky and floral and springy to me. the added ingredients inspired some debate, we were sure if they were actually in here or just tasting notes, so mellow and well integrated here that they dont stand out as weird. i taste plenty of honey in here though, almost in place of a more substantial malt base, which never really comes to be. instead its a flowery and polleny spring sweetness, but its dry long before the finish. strawberries have a light jammy note here, more sweet than anything else, but distinct in a relaxed way, beautiful with the brett as well. i dont get a lot of bread here, maybe a cooked sort of rye note, but its all well behind the yeast in this, funky and explosively carbonated, a really neat recipe that has been executed to near perfection in my opinion. i wouldnt want any of thes elements to be more than they are here, the mild nature of them is what makes this so intriguing, subtlety can be amazing in a beer like this. the brett fermentation is advanced and expert, and overall i thought this was a perfect saison for a summer afternoon! refined to a rare degree.
