An ode to the train that gets up from Port to Penn, Massapequa to Montauk! LIRRR is a floral, easy drinking, hoppy pale ale brewed with hibiscus.

Pours a hazy plum color with fine, pink head.
Smell is floral and crisp with notes of blood orange and honey.
Taste is citrusy and almost a bit tart with nice floral notes following. Bitterness is very mild, making this very refreshing.
Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated.
Overall, a very refreshing and interesting pale ale.

A: The beer is very hazy light purple in color—too hazy to see if there is any visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high pink head covering the surface that completely faded away, leaving just a thin collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of hibiscus are present in the nose along with strong notes of floral hops and hints of citrusy and spicy hops.
T: The taste follows the smell, starting off with flavors of hibiscus and finishing with strong flavors of floral and spicy hops. There is a light to moderate amount of associated bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. No crispness is apparent.
O: I'm not sure what the inspiration for the "red" in this beer came from (perhaps it is the red color of the LIRR Port Washington Branch), but it definitely adds an interesting twist to this American Pale Ale. The hibiscus was not overdone and the beer still smelled and tasted like it had a decent dose of hops.
