Collaboration with David Lynch. Lula's mother would approve of this beer. Floral and delicate, Marietta Red is packed with Hibiscus, Motueka and Wai'iti hops.

this is supposed to be delicious, a hibiscus ale with new zealand hops, that sounds lovely right? unfortunately, this is one of those (very) rare instances in my experience with mikkeller where the execution just isnt there. i have heard that this is more common out of new york, maybe not quite dialed in yet, but none of us cared for this one, not that its awful or anything, but it doesnt come close to the high quality i expect and demand from mikkeller at this point. not much hea don the hazy pink brew, colored a lot by the hibiscus obviously. aroma of cut and dried flowers, strawberry soda, generic citrus zest, and a funny ester profile that isnt quite belgian and doesnt really fit, seems to exacerbate a perfume character from the flowers. the hops seem really light on this, melony and white winey, but overwhelmed by all the hibiscus, which is how the flavor is too. there is a soupy vibe to this, more a fragrance than a drink too, a sangria element or something, its not bad, dont get me wrong, but it doesnt come together like it should. doughy grain underneath, lightly phenolic somehow in the finish, limey, hops seem to be swimming, kind of lost, looking for their place, i dont know. this was collectively our least favorite beer from our visit to mikkeller in new york. in need of some tweaks to be sure...

A: The beer is very hazy reddish purple in color. It poured with a short pink head that quickly settled down, leaving a lots of wispy white bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of hibiscus and stone fruit are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has moderate to strong flavors of hibiscus along with notes of stone fruit and lime citrus. No bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied and slightly tart on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I found the taste of this beer to be interesting, particularly with the combination of flavors from the hibiscus and limes.
