Canned on 2/22/19.
L: Pours pitch black with evident viscosity. Literally looks like motor oil with a thin khaki ring of bubbles around the perimeter. Very minimal traces of lacing on the glass. As a whole, it looks nice.
S: A lot of roasted malt/raw cacao aromas on the nose, alongside a generous amount of dark fruit sweetness on the nose. Minimal cinnamon spice with just a touch of rum warmth on the nose. Smells delicious, and more sweet and chocolate-forward than anything else.
T: Not sure what I was expecting, but this is phenomenal. Tons of chocolate flavor on the profile, in the sense of both raw and bitter cacao and bakers sweet chocolate. I definitely taste the raisins, which lend a sweet and rather pleasant layer of complexity to the flavor profile. The rum is present on the finish adding a spicy vanilla flavor at the finish but it is not overpowering. Cinnamon very mild but most detectible in the aftertaste.
F: Really great. Medium in body, heavy in weight. Creamy texture, slick, and smooth like motor oil. Viscous and with a nice hefty weight and carbonation being on the lower end of moderate.
O: I heard this was good, but I gotta say, I think it's great. The flavor profile is unmatched and really quite unique from most other offerings I've had. This is delicious and makes for an excellent slow sipper. One thing I noticed is I enjoyed it fright from the fridge as well as when it came to room temp. I would drink again, and I am very glad to try. Cheers!
