Another Ghost Whale of a beer. Thanks to Mike for this one. 375ml foiled and capped bottle. Label is white with just the generic Mikkeller face. Served in Torst stemware. Reviewed from notes.

Pours pitch black with almost no head. Beer is oily and thick with huge legs but spotty lace. A monster of a brew for sure. Dark and menacing... but also real enticing for the style.

Nose is very aromatic and perhaps one of the most unique I've ever come across. Notes of smoke, roast, liquorice, cocoa powder and chocolate... all covered in a huge wave of lactose so strong its as if unpasteurized whole milk was poured in the bottle. Ridiculous!

Flavor is as equally unique as the nose. .Smoke, roasted malt, liquorice, leather, mild cinnamon spice, prunes, sweet soy sauce, and chocolate and fudge. More dark fruit and mild barrel notes towards the end. The lactose so dominant in the nose is almost completely missing in the flavor. Finishes sweet with a lingering, roasty and sweet aftertaste. Decent.

Full bodied with low carbonation. Thick, oily, and viscous in the mouth and goes down smooth. Finishes messy with a lingering, sticky aftertaste. Just what I want from the style.

A very unique beer from start to finish but I don't know if this is worth the price of admission. Definitely one that'll stick in my mind but for some weird and not necessarily good reasons. Again, very interesting though.

Bottle #10 of 40 produced...don't think it could be any more limited. My buddy Phil won it in auction (not ebay, but an online auction that Mikkeller did for charity about a year back). He brought it to skimoore's bachelor party and there you have it.

Pours a deep brown, almost black, no head.

Nose: roasted malts, some chocolate, some smokiness, oak, not much bourbon.

Taste/Mouthfeel: for 5 years in the bottle and at 15% abv it was quite smooth but not as much as mellow as I would have thought. Typical BA stout flavors but nothing that made you think "wow"...especially for the price this thing went for, not to mention what they want at Mikkeller Bar for a bottle (either 1000 dollars or euros).

Overall: Honestly, quite reminiscent of DFH WWS with some age on it. Regardless, happy to have tried it, don't seek it out for the money though. Buy a case of a Black variant instead!
