A traditional Hefeweizen with the added twist of lemon zest. The brightness and tartness of the zest balances delicately atop the sweet and round nature of the style.

Copenhagen 7/9 2019. 47,3 cl can from Mikkeller Web-shop. Keith Shore Drawing of a little fellow with a black hat about to be squeezed like a lemon in a Green Squasher by a happy looking Giant Lady.

Pours unclear, pale yellow with a medium-sized white head. Bubbly. Settles fast and disappears more or less in half a minute leaving a thin rim of foam running along the side of the glass behind. No lacing.

Aroma is bit like a soda with light chemical twist. Sweetish lemonade with Oranges. Citrus, Lemon. Tart. Hints of Ginger and detergent.

Strong carbonation. Thin, watery, fizzy texture.

Flavor is medium sweet followed by and balanced by slightly stronger tart sourness. Aftertaste sour sweet lemonade. Lingers shortly.

Fairly fresh and easy to drink. Could do without the detergent.

Can from Swan Dive in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a partially hazy golden yellow color, with a small head, and a lot of lacing.

This smells like lemon rind/peel, clove, banana, citrusy hops, and grassiness.

This is obviously not to style, but it's done well enough that I don't really care. The lemon addition is subtle enough that this doesn't just become a shandy. The base hefeweizen has just enough clove and banana to approach(ish) traditional tones, but there's definitely an elevated citrusy hop character that's very non-German.

This is light bodied, not as thick and chewy as some of the best hefeweizens. It's very drinkable, and crisp, though, so that works.

This was a fun beer that I wasn't really sure if I'd like. I'd try it again.
