Canned 2020/09/02
Pours a pinkish-purple 1/2 finger foamy head with little lacing, dark hazy purplish color
Nose is loaded with dark red wine and blackberries, rich straight up Syrah wine, a little deep sweet caramel malt underneath, light perfumey alcohol,
Taste brings rich malt up front, nice strong ale with some caramel malts, a bit toasty, light perfumey alcohol, a touch of spicy hops, then more blackberry, some dark grape juice and wine, into a clear Syrah like wine on the back end, a little Merlot maybe but the Syrah way overpowers it, some tannins late as well, tannins lead to a bit of an astringent finish as well, bit of bitterness and spicy hop late, more red wine as well and blackberry juice
Mouth is fuller bod, med to a bit higher foamy carb, a touch of warming alcohol
Overall pretty good, delivers what it promises and more, the nose didn't have a lot of the base beer but the taste had plenty and lead with it, the nose had loads of deep red wine while the taste brought it in on the backend and background but plenty flavorful, and plenty of blackberry as well, so nice

Some Belgian yeast phenols peak through, but this is almost straight up carbonated fruit juice. I'm getting grape and blackberry primarily. Refreshing and tasty, just not enough like beer.

One of those beers that was different on the shelf, it just begged the curiosity of the drinker to give it a try. Plum mostly opaque body with pinkish surface and spotted lacing and collar, odd but fun! Smell really sells the blackberry, grape juice, slight must, and pale malts support. Taste is fascinating, never had a beer like it! Curiosity did NOT kill the palate! Blackberry, grape juice, blueberry compote, somewhat vinous must that is light yet defining with the pale base elements, (hello communion wine) sweet booziness that is cool balances in too. Feel actually highlights the artistic pale and booze of the style but also has the fun adjunct stars to be weird and yet completely enjoyable, nice and cool. Thank you for being creative MSD, now we celebrate, for it's the freaking Catlina Bine Mixer!
