OK, this is going to be unique, not sure if good or bad. def one of my fav styles, but dry hopped with Galaxy (easily can overpower), and lagered in Superstition Mead barrels (the only reason I agreed to try a Galaxy dry-hopped Helles)
Canned 2021/02/26
Pours a med-larger frothy foamy 1+ finger head with med retention, a touch of lacing, slight hazy mostly clear honey blonde to straw color
Nose is interesting, there is some Helles in there although not a lot, grainy-sweet malt, a little doughy, some sweet fragrant aromas with definite honey and meads characters, a bit of a grassy fresh dry hop character, with a little citrus and tropical undertones, a little pineapple mead like
Taste brings the mead and hops up front as expected, pineapple and citrus with grassy spicy hop characters followed by sweet honey mead and semi sweet characters, med-higher bitterness, general fruity esters, then some Helles way underneath, a touch of grainy-sweet malt, little doughy, lemony notes later with citrus zest, grassy dry hops, med-high spicy hop bitterness on the finish bordering IPA (west-coast) level, dry
Mouth is med bod, med-higher frothy carb, a bit soft lager
Overall sad, the dry hop did what I worried it would and just demolish the delicate Helles, barely any of it left on the flavor, some on teh aroma but not a ton, and hops didn't even get too piney resinous or like super tropical, but still just demolished the rest of the beer, mead was OK but also muted compared to the hops, so that's also kinda sad
