Can from Market of Choice.
A clear golden orange with a rapidly receding off-white head, this looks solid. The nose is immediately grainy with raw wheat in the way only a Berlinerweisse can be. Lightly tart with a robust fruity character to pair with the yogurt, there's cherry, strawberry and then, fruity, mildly floral and mineraly Chardonnay. The combination has an almost banana like character. The palate opens with a clean, fruity sweetness with the chardonnay most prominent with vanillin, stone fruit, melon and white wine poached pear, slightly spicy with cinnamon and then, the cherry and strawberry. The whole experience, though, falls unfortunately flat and one dimensional with the raw, grainy wheat lost behind the deliberately intense grape addition. A touch buttery on the finish. Solid.
