From a 16oz can, filled 20JAN21. Label indicates an ABV of 11.7%.
Pours a deep, dark, opaque brown, with a 2" dollop of frothy, dark beige foam sitting on top. The suds goes down quicker than a desperate hitch-hiker, leaving a thin covering layer and decent lace. Has a rich nose of roasty coffee, dark choco, maple, toffee and caramel. Body is easily medium-plus, with a smooth and creamy feel on the tongue.
Flavor aligns with the aroma... dark choco, maple, caramel and toffee, molasses, espresso... and a subtle hint of earthy florality in the pleasant finish. Solid!!! Prost!

I am using a tulip glass and serving the beer at 50. The pour created a frothy, creamy, one-fingered, dark tan head with below-average retention. The quick dissipation left no lacing on the glass. The beer is inky black with dark oily brown hues, charting at SRM 36, and opaque. The appearance of the beer is average for this style.
Nosing the glass, I smell maple syrup, treacle, molasses, dates, raisins, malty sweetness, vanilla, dark chocolate, espresso, earthy dirt, dark roasted malts, lightly toasted cereal grains, and leather. Smelling the beer again, I also detect light grassy, herbal, caramel, toffee, char, and a light tobacco note.
The beer has rich, earthy notes coupled with espresso, dark chocolate, leather, tobacco, and maple syrup weaved throughout. Sipping the beer again, I taste dark roasted malts, light soy sauce, anise, caramel, toffee, treacle, raisins, vanilla, grassy, herbal, char, and a light smokiness.
The mouthfeel is chewy and smooth, finishing dry like an Irish Stout. The body is medium-plus and has medium-low carbonation.
I have the barrel-aged version of this and will do that review next. I have had this beer for five years, and the cellaring has grown well. I did not notice any oxidation or off-flavor, indicating I overaged it. The brewers added a judicious amount of maple syrup and coffee, yet restrained enough to balance the beer. I enjoyed this beer, although the windy weather outside is less than ideal for enjoying the sunset.

16oz can from Tavour. Near black pour, small patchy head and ring. Maple prominent in the aroma, roast, chocolate, booze. Sweet chocolate flavors accompanied with heat, more maple, dark roast malts and a trace of coffee. Thick, syrupy. Sip and savor.

First time trying this one, served at 40 degrees, poured into a turbolator glass, very nice flavor, good head that dissipated a bit quickly but great body, good drinkability, great complex flavor. Coffee, maple, good roasted malt hints all very nicely balanced, very dark, black, no light passes at all, a good impressive Stout without the barrel aging, 12.1 abv
