Imperial stout made with vanilla and aged in bourbon barrels. Produced special for HBO and the Game Of Thrones collaboration project, ‘Castle Black’ demonstrates wisdom and heart. A deep, dark, cold Imperial Stout, aged in a blend of bourbon barrels and treated with vanilla. Warmth, and spiced cookies, cocoa beans and coffee, Castle Black.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a dark brown foamy head with some retention and some light lacing notes. Aroma of black chocolate notes with some vanilla and bourbon notes. Taste is also a mix of black chocolate notes with some vanilla and bourbon notes with some residual sugar notes. Body is above average with creamy texture and good carbonation with some alcohol notes discernible. Enjoyable BA stout with nice balance.

The head was large at first but reduced to 1/4 inch after about 5 minutes later. Smell is deep dark chocolate and leathers. Opaque and dark black, really giving the “Castle Black Stout” validation. Thick, robust dark chocolate, tobacco taste. Really filling and sweet brew. I like it. The price is a bit high because of the license agreement with HBO.

great malty stout strong but very enjoyable drink slow
