super light kettle sour here with mulberries and a berried tea, unique recipe, cool mix of flavors, i can always count on mikkeller to be challenging and inspired. this has a foggy rose pink look to it, tainted a little brown by some tea addition maybe, short white head from the tap. the nose is a little cheesy on the souring, which i usually do not like but it adds some interest here and seems intentional, still lemony too on the lacto side, which marries in well with both the tea and the berries, smart recipe to me right away. mulberries is a tough one, hard to really place them specifically, it has raspberry and currant notes to me, slight sweetness, but i dont know if anyone could call mulberries here, maybe partially due to some berries in the tea. seems like black tea, pretty minimally brewed as in its light even though the tea flavor is bold, its not bitter or anything, but it also has floral fruity rooibos type notes, maybe more than one tea in play? red berries, raisin, some decent wheat malt character it seems too, keeps it beery, and more flavor on the souring than a lot of these have. could use more bubbles, but i almost always think that in this style. a little challenging and different, but clever stuff that seems to me like it is meant for morning time or high summer weather. enjoyable and distinctive.
