on tap at their london pub, not the brewery location but the bar. my guess is this is not made in london, as im not sure they are doing wild beer like this out of that location, so adding it here. i have loved the spontan series so was keen to try this, but it tastes like mediocre and sort of weirdly oxidized lambic, still cool, but i wonder what this really is, like is it their own blend, is it something from boon like others have been, did they make the wort somewhere? so many questions. it pours a little maltier than expected, not amber but maybe light copper, with just a short white lace head. it smells a little old, but also oaky, tart, and with some familiar lambic funk, richer malts, white wine, green gooseberry, and some almost cider-esque character. its fermentation forward but also rather grainy, a little sweet in the center, some wet paper and pennies on the back end before the lemony acidity. a good amount of oak here, old and wet, with pronounced spiciness as it warms, neat flavors. its acidic and a touch sweet at the same time, almost flat in terms of carbonation. it feels pretty traditional overall, but also is a little underwhelming for me, lacking any real intrigue or even anything specific to mikkeller like the others in the series have all had. id love to know more details, and it was fun to try, but it didnt wow me like i expected it to...
