When you pour this beer, it's Black with a dark Tan coloured head. The head sticks around for quite a while with good retention throughout drinking, starting medium and ending with a small head. It leaves a lot of sticky lacing around the glass on the way down. On the Nose there's lots of Roasted Malt akin to Coffee, Caramel, Chocolate and a slightly fruity Smokey smell coming from the Chilli Peppers. On the Palate, first there's hints of Roasted Coffee but it quickly goes into a lovely, smooth Bourbon flavour which balances out the heat from the Chipotle peppers. In the background you get Caramel, Chocolate and some Fruity and Smokey tones from the peppers. The body is quite thin, but it works well with this style. It finishes dry and a little bitter with a touch of heat coming from the Chilli Peppers.

375ml poured into a pint glass.
Appearance - Black beer with a huge cascading brown head. A thin cap is left by the end with bits of lace.
Smell - Dense, unsweetened chocolate, green apples, molasses, light spice/chipotles and roast, a bit of a veggie feel. The apple/chocolate/spice combo reminds me of a mini-Apple Brandy Hunahpu's in some ways. Not getting much for bourbon, but an intriguing scent overall.
Taste - A little more roast and char here with some chocolate and caramel to help balance it out. Vegetal and smoky chipotles are a little more intense with some lingering spiciness. Still not getting any bourbon, though some oak barrel seems to make an appearance now and then.
Mouthfeel - Somewhat light and slick mouthfeel with medium-low carbonation. Flashes of alcohol here and there, a bit of a sipper from the dense and spicy flavors.
Overall - I like the dense porter/chipotle interplay, though I was expecting something a bit more.
