1.5L Magnum shared with and courtesy of the dodgy fella underneath me. From notes.

Black with an immense mocha head, dense and persistent. Eventually leaves a brilliant raised lace curtain.

Lightly pungent roast, with a slightly funky vegetal, hoppy edge. Good amount of dark fruits, burnt caramel, chocolate and fairly mild coffee notes. Moderate plasticy medicinal notes detract a little.

Milk chocolate galore, over extracted coffee and aniseed. Roasty bitterness builds amidst a herbal and grainy background.

Medium mouthfeel with micro-carbonation that sparkles across the palate. Finishes clean.

Great beer. Rough and rustic with some atypical funkiness going on. More reminiscent of a Baltic porter.

1.5 Liter bottle poured into a tulip
Big want for a while

A-- Poured a dark cola color, settled black with just touches of ruby. Big, three finger mocha colored head. Great head retention and left lots of streaky and spotty lacing as dissipated to a thick film and collar. Nice looking beer.

S-- Lots of roast, coffee and chocolate. underneath get some dark fruits and earthiness from the hops. has held up quite well for a 2 year beer.

T-- Earthy, grainy dark fruit followed by coffee and chocolate. Slightly thin at first but picks up quickly and eliminates that gap. Good amount of earthy bitterness to this.

M-- Medium bodied and lighter medium carbonated. Get flashes of coffee acidity in the back but this is about chocolate, roasted malts and coffee in the mid palate. Nice long lasting feel to this. .

O-- When Mikkeller hits it he hits it big, when misses... you get the idea. This is a hit. Well made porter. Well hidden ABV and easy to drink. issue with this is the 1.5 L bottle. Share with friends and have a good time. Try this alone and this will get to be a bit much. Really solid US style porter that regrettably did not make the US. Would easily have again.
